Our friend Perke finishes off a trip to Japan with okonomiyaki and nama beer in Osaka. Impeccable style as usual.

Megan/Berlin, Germany
from Jillian--
"We were in Berlin together a few years ago, and we went to get ice cream. We were asking the guy to translate all the flavors (Strawberry, Pistachio, etc). Finally, we asked about this green flavor: "Was ist Waldmeister?" With a quizzical look, he turned to his coworker, who shrugged. He looked back to us and said, "Waldmeister ist Waldmeister!" It literally translates to "Master of the Forest," but tastes like green. So of course, Megan got it again on her trip back to Germany."

Petra/New York, NY
In 2007, artist Petra Valentova published an unusual cookbook. The recipes were all collected from men she had met on an Internet dating site. The project, called "Searching for a Sámi," began with a desire to find a man from the northern Finnish region where Petra had once visited, but soon opened up to include a wide range of NYC guys. After collecting the recipes, Petra cooked the dishes with her friends and reflected on the experience in her book.
This photo comes from one of the entries, "Quick Sauerbraten." I'm not sure if the title refers to the prep time, or her date that night.
