This one was passed along by a waffle-obsessed friend. I agree, this is fine wafflemanship.

Derrick/Fort Plain, NY
"I'm in the fourth week of a bicycle trip from Missouri to Maine (with some out of the way stops between). I've been following the Erie Canal through New York, and I'll be heading into Massachusetts tomorrow. This is my breakfast from the 5S Diner in Fort Plain, NY, this morning. 3 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, 2 bacon strips, and 1 sausage link: $6. I ordinarily shy from meat, but when I'm touring I take what I can from the land o'plenty. I usually consume 3,000-5,000 calories a day, and still lose weight.
I keep a blog as I go at bikeset.wordpress.com"

Megan/Berlin, Germany
from Jillian--
"We were in Berlin together a few years ago, and we went to get ice cream. We were asking the guy to translate all the flavors (Strawberry, Pistachio, etc). Finally, we asked about this green flavor: "Was ist Waldmeister?" With a quizzical look, he turned to his coworker, who shrugged. He looked back to us and said, "Waldmeister ist Waldmeister!" It literally translates to "Master of the Forest," but tastes like green. So of course, Megan got it again on her trip back to Germany."

Petra/New York, NY
In 2007, artist Petra Valentova published an unusual cookbook. The recipes were all collected from men she had met on an Internet dating site. The project, called "Searching for a Sámi," began with a desire to find a man from the northern Finnish region where Petra had once visited, but soon opened up to include a wide range of NYC guys. After collecting the recipes, Petra cooked the dishes with her friends and reflected on the experience in her book.
This photo comes from one of the entries, "Quick Sauerbraten." I'm not sure if the title refers to the prep time, or her date that night.

"A slice of pizza from Colony Grill in Stamford, CT. It's a hole in the wall dive, but my absolute favorite that I always go back to, even 3 years after moving to Boston.
Toppings of choice? Hot oil and pepperoni. The 'roni comes from DeYulio's Sausage Company, right across the street."

the paper dosa had an estimated diameter of 3 feet unrolled & is accompanied by potato masala, mint coconut chutney, & a vaguely spicy sambar. hunt for dosa was inspired by my dear friend of 11 years michael who had come to visit, & triumph occurred at one of my south indian strongholds, madras mahal at 28th & lexington (one of the first indian restaurants in the united states of america). more modestly-sized dosas were a staple of my saturday mornings as a south indian young person so it's hardwired for me as a soul food that is crisp with rice & protein. despite it's telescopic nature there is nothing to see within or beyond the eyehole of the dosa :(.
